Joseph Burke Littenberg is a crackhead, ladies and gentlemen. Having decidido hacer next to nothing with his degree in Politics, Joe moved to Barcelona a long time ago because he liked it. He still does. His unofficial title, Un Poco De Tó, reflects a professional history that includes a vast array of odd jobs that do not at all prepare him for a career in publishing. He found direction in BCN WEEK, however, and the semblance of a family in the presence of much more capable and occasionally condescending colleagues. He often feels underappreciated and mocked, and his youthful energy and enthusiasm are usually mistaken for a lack of seriousness and/or ability. Nonetheless, you may contact him (if you dare) for anything to do with events, marketing, sales, or generally good and new ideas for collaboration. :: joe@bcnweek.com

Núria Ferrer is a Catalan/American hybrid with a penchant for la prensa rosa and a brutal case of insomnia. She has browbeaten everyone else into believing that these qualities, combined with her occasional obsessive-compulsive behavior, make for the ability to run a paper. Her studies in political science and documentary film have left her with a skepticism of mass media and a deep conviction that reality should be dissected and, occasionally, mocked, and she loves nothing more than a heated conversation over a birra. In returning to the Barcelona patria, and through BCN WEEK, she hopes to make these late-night rambling sessions public. Other interests include Catalan country bands, Fellini films, and any food establishment that sells haloumi cheese. You can contact her with any queries about operations, sales, or collaboration, or if you just have something you want to get off your chest. She's friendly, we swear. :: nuria@bcnweek.com

Lena Wiget used to live a quiet life in Hamburg, eating rye bread whilst watching big container ships float up and down the Elbe. She won her bread as a copywriter and idea scout until one day she was stung by a vicious bee from overseas whose poison instilled a deep inquietude in her otherwise happy heart. She started moving, first to the States, then to Sydney, to Cambridge for a BA in Communication Studies and then to Copenhagen, and returned to England to do her MA in Cultural Studies in 2004. She never recovered from her encounter with postmodern theory, fell in love with Foucault, Derrida, and Deleuze, and currently channels her energy into finding cultural nomads: guerrilla artists who live la différance. Contact her for anything cultural – be it written, painted or sung - that’s out of the ordinary.

Cocojob. The Walrus is Jordi.

Quan tenia 3 anys i encara no sabia ni dibuixar les lletres, escrivia cartes a son pare, quan ell marxava a treballar.

Laura Lakshmi Tenenberg spent most of her life in the strange bubble called 'the west coast': she grew up in a little hippy surfer town near San Diego, moved to San Francisco when she was eighteen and went to university years later in Portland. She studied literature because she liked reading books and writing poetry but never really gave much thought to what she would do to earn money afterwards. She sometimes wishes she had gone to a trade school instead. She came to Barcelona on a whim two and a half years ago, and is still not really sure why she came (she finds it annoying that people always ask that question because they are never satisfied with her answer). Like every other American who doesn't work with computers (and has few marketable skills), she teaches English, which she thinks is ok. It gives her time to focus on other things, like Gossip Girl and BCN Week. She also would like to add that no matter what everyone says, the climate here is nothing like southern California. :: laura@bcnweek.com

Elliotsdöttir was born on a little tropical island and spent most of her youth in between her banana country and gringolandia. When she got sick of middle class pampering, she took a coconut leaf and swam from the warm light blue waters to a cold Nordic country, Belgium. There she began her artistic education, got really scared by the massive skinhead community, and went back to her tropical paradise. She studied fine arts and advertisement, but once again got tired of mosquito bites, drugs, and not having electricity, so she took her little coconut leaf and landed in Barcelona, where she studies Illustration. Elliotsdöttir has been studying for the past 6 years, and is damn tired of it. In four years Elliotsdöttir will be 30. She speaks English (with a gringo accent) Spanish (with a Dominican accent), and Dutch (with a Flemish accent). She waits for a good paying job and papers in her tiny apartment in El Gótico.

Proofreader
Megan Ellis lleva nearly a year in Barcelona, and is loving the foreign things that you don’t get in London, like correfoc and sunshine. Randomly discovering BCN WEEK during a three day flat-quest on Loquo, she was delighted to find that her pedantic interest in grammar and spelling could be applied to something useful, rather than just pointing out mistakes in pub menus. Following studies in product design she now gets paid to design stuff, constantly finding herself caught between a love of shiny things and a wish to design a better world. Unlike Maria, a few of her favourite things are travelling, photography, Banksy, girls with guitars and Dairy Milk. :: megan@bcnweek.com

Neill Higgins abandoned the cold, cruel, British shores just a little over two years ago, in search of at least some basically respectable level of perma-tan and to escape the rampant rat-race rollo of London. Graduating in (useless) geography, he quickly turned his hand to the hard-faced Britannic world of music and events promotion, but continues to be seduced by the prospect of the never-ending party and mutual moments of musical nirvana. He is now studying a Master in culture-related ramblings and living by the Morrisseyan sentiment, “I was looking for a job, (on the paro) and then I found a job and heaven knows I’m miserable now (no paro).” Other interests include crunching autumn leaves, hot-towel shaves, wearing hearts on sleeves, and talking England. You can contact him about hypothetical (or real) events, music-related trivia, or lo que sea, really. He’s a good listener. :: neill@bcnweek.com

Michael Jones wasted a good seven years of his precious youth playing rock ‘n’ roll in suburban basements while working in event production, political/environmental activism and far too many restaurants. Immediately after casting his first ballot in a (Bushit) presidential election, and while the powers-that-be were still counting votes, Michael sold off his musical equipment and junk and arrived in Barcelona just in time for New Year’s 2001. He came armed only with determination, $220, one acquaintance, a few Mexican slang words, and skills reminiscent of Siddhartha (fasting, meditating, and waiting). After a fledgling year or more on the piss, Michael’s once again settled into a life steeped in the arts. A working actor and songwriter, he has used BCN WEEK as the fuel to the fire of his ever-growing literary ambitions.

Emergency Web Support
Sabine Maja Rietkötter left Berlin to take a break from reality and, despite having lived in Barcelona for over four years, continues to maintain the fantasy that she could pack up and leave at any moment. In truth, however, Sabine is a little Spaniard at heart, frying herself on the beach every summer with wild abandon. After realising that teaching German was not her calling and that the "good" guiri life is a myth propagated by the tourism board, she managed to get back to the world of joy and cash by reclaiming the computer as her best friend. Like any good German, she refuses to drink red wine but won't say no to any occasion involving beer. We contact her whenever the BCN WEEK website goes over to the dark side and nothing makes sense anymore.
